One
of the world’s leading tier one automotive
interior components supplier required a partner
to assist with their rapid development programme
in order to produce 85 car sets of interior door
panels for a major automotive manufacturer. Parts
off the production tooling were not going to be
available on time to complete the CP build phase.
The components needed to be manufactured in a
near production intent material for functional
testing. Previous components were produced using
vacuum forming techniques as a low-cost, quick
turnaround solution. R&R Technologies were
able to produce components to a higher specification,
meeting both budget and aggressive development
schedule by utilizing it’s suite of in-house
services.
RIM tools were produced to manufacture 85 complete
sets of doors (4 per set). Tools were designed
for the RIM process by our in-house CAD team then
manufactured using R&R’s 5 axis CNC
capabilities. Volume components were then produced
by R&R Technologies.
Despite a demanding delivery schedule and modifications
to the design, R&R Technologies 24/7 capability
provided high quality prototype components delivered
on time in 3 batches, directly to the production
lines in Germany.
